Max Verstappen is ready to move on after finishing in P4 at the Monaco Grand Prix. It was a dull Sunday for the Dutchman, he explained. Speaking to Viaplay, the defending world champion joked: "I really enjoyed it, it was really great!", he said ironically, reflecting on what was a straightforward and boring 78 laps for him.
"Unfortunately, I've had to do that a lot here, it's not our circuit. But hey, that's just the way it is. It's one in 24, so we just move on," he continued.
Monaco GP could have only been good for a pit stop training session
Other than going long and waiting for a Safety Car, Verstappen did not have the chance to make up any more positions and finish on the podium.
He eventually completed his second mandatory pit stop ahead of the final lap."I had nothing to lose, I had 50 seconds behind me. We could have done five, a bit of pit stop training for the team."
"But this is not what you want. It's incredibly boring", the Red Bull driver shared his verdict.
Even as his tyres were already getting very worn towards the end of the Grand Prix, but he just cruise until his final stop.
"You're driving two, three seconds too slow and you still can't do anything. I don't know. I also had no grip anymore, I wasn't turning, then I also don't feel like pushing to the limit. Then you'll crash into the wall", the four-time world champion concluded.
