Even after the British Grand Prix, Max Verstappen remains the Formula 1 driver with the most penalty points on his record. Oliver Bearman is closing the gap, and Oscar Piastri also picked up penalty points at Silverstone.
Verstappen had two penalty points removed from his license following the Austrian GP, but he still needs to tread carefully. The Dutchman’s current points won’t expire until the end of October, meaning an incident resulting in three penalty points could still lead to a race suspension.

Penalty points for Piastri and Bearman in Silverstone

Bearman doubled the number of penalty points on his license in one attempt: his crash during a red flag was harshly penalised by the stewards. Together with a ten-place grid drop, he also earned himself no fewer than four penalty points—a record for a single incident.
Piastri also added penalty points to his tally. While leading the race, he braked sharply behind the safety car just before it was about to return to the pit lane. This forced Verstappen to swerve and overtake the McLaren driver. As a result, Piastri received a ten-second time penalty and two penalty points.
