Max Verstappen spent much of the 2025 Formula 1 season on the brink of a race ban. However, the Dutchman no longer has to worry about that. The four-time world champion once again has a clean slate in terms of penalty points.
At the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix, following a Safety Car restart, Verstappen collided with George Russell's Mercedes in Barcelona. Alongside a time penalty, the stewards also handed the Red Bull Racing driver three penalty points, bringing his total to 11. In Formula 1, reaching 12 penalty points results in an automatic race ban.
Penalty points are removed from a driver's licence 12 months after they are issued. The incident involving Russell occurred on 1 June 2025, meaning those points expire today. Since then, Verstappen has not received any additional penalty points. As a result, he is now one of nine drivers with a clean super licence.

Bearman also escapes difficult situation

After the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where the British youngster received another penalty point for 'more than one change of position when defending,' his total rose to 10 penalty points.

As a result, the Haas F1 driver has had to walk on eggshells throughout the season so far, as receiving two more penalty points (something that could result from a single incident) would have led to a race ban.
During the Canadian Grand Prix, two penalty points expired from his licence, meaning he currently has eight points on his record. A further four points will come off on 5 July.
