The Chinese Grand Prix, won by Max Verstappen, was marked by two safety car moments that occurred shortly after each other. Although the race winner was able to cope with these situations, he felt that things could have been a bit smoother. Verstappen expressed his frustration in the post-race press conference.
"Just took a long time I found to get the the first car cleared and then I felt like we drove one more lap behind the safety car for nothing so I was like, 'come on speed up a bit.' Then of course we had another safety car for me felt again that they took a long time to to clear," said the three-time world champion.

Fewer different strategies

The Dutchman also felt that the safety cars did not add to the entertainment value of the race. "The two safety cars it made it a little bit less fun, because you would have seen probably more different strategies between the cars and now everyone was just driving it more or less to the end, except I think Fernando was on the soft. It made it I guess a little bit more straightforward so that was a bit of a shame I guess."
