Verstappen needs a break: 'He's a bit fed up with it'

After the victory in Abu Dhabi Max Verstappen celebrated with his family and the Red Bull team. On social media there were already images of the Dutchman showing how he celebrated the championship. Father Jos Verstappen tells more about the long night.

"I think I was at the hotel at seven in the morning and Max even later. I still feel it now", Jos laughs in front of the camera of the NOS. Red Bull had organised a big party, but because there were too many people present the party was moved to a boat.

The new world champion didn't have much time to recover from the night of festivities, because today he had a day with Pirelli to test the new tyres. Fast times were out of the question, but the Dutchman did a fair amount of laps.

According to Jos, his son needs some rest after the long season. "He is a bit fed up with it, even with the tests here he has trouble. But it is important that he gets the feeling in the new tyres", he says.

After a nerve-wracking season and pulling through the night after the all-decisive race in Abu Dhabi, Verstappen will be happy to take some time for himself after Tuesday's test in Abu Dhabi. Tomorrow Sergio Perez will take over the test from him.
