Verstappen: "I personally never expected to fight them"

After a weekend to forget in Monza last time out, it was time for Max Verstappen to put the pressure on Mercedes in qualifying for the Mugello Grand Prix.

"I personally never expected to fight them," he says. "I think overall this weekend has been really promising, we have bounced back well from Monza. To be third in qualifying, we can be very happy with that," says Verstappen.

"I think the wind increased in Q3. It is what it is, these cars are tough with the wind anyway. But it's great to drive here. Qualifying was really something special," the Dutchman concludes.
