Verstappen: Formula 1 might need to slow down to "remain fun for the fans"

Max Verstappen isn't usually one for taking it slow, but the 21-year-old believes Formula 1 might have to slow the cars down to make sure the sport remains attractive to the fans.
Since Liberty Media took charge, and this season especially, record lap times have been beaten as different modifications increase the amount of speed.
Despite regulation changes to alter aerodynamics, drivers are still finding it hard to drive directly behind another car. To fix this, Verstappen believes the sport needs to reduce the speed by one or two seconds.
“We are now going ever faster and we are recording new track records everywhere, but that is of course not the issue. If you just want to go faster and faster then you might as well put a robot in the car. It should also remain fun for the fans. If everything goes one or two seconds slower, but we can continue to follow each other well, then that's no problem at all," he told Autosport.
