Verstappen branded ‘fastest ever in Formula 1’ after 'relentless' display

The Dutchman just missed out on the 2025 drivers' title after his stunning comeback during the second half of the season. Verstappen won the final three Grands Prix of the year, but in the end, he finished two points behind Lando Norris in the drivers' standings.

Speaking about the four-time world champion in the BBC's Chequered Flag podcast, former Mercedes driver Bird was very positive about the Red Bull driver's performance.

He explained: "I'm, as a driver, genuinely, completely in awe of his skill level. I don't think I've ever seen anybody this fast ever in Formula 1. He's so relentless. It's scary. It really is scary. If you give him the car, he's dominating."

Verstappen stays busy in the Formula 1 off-season, as the Dutchman is also preparing for the next season of his GT3 team, Verstappen.com Racing. The four-time F1 champion was recently testing in Portugal at the Estoril circuit using Mercedes GT3 cars.
