Max Verstappen is looking forward to the French Grand Prix where he has achieved good results over the years. Verstappen is curious about his tyres, especially after the problems in Austria.

Verstappen good at Paul Ricard

The Austrian Grand Prix was ultimately a setback for Verstappen and Red Bull Racing. After pole and a win in the sprint race, the RB18 did not perform so well on the tyres. In France, Verstappen hopes to be back in contention for victory and the past at Paul Ricard speaks in his favour. In the three Grand Prix held in his career Verstappen finished second, fourth and last year first.
"I think the previous years have been quite good around here, but that is no longer a guarantee with the new cars. I'm looking forward to it and I'm also looking forward to seeing how the tyres will hold up in this heat, it won't be easy," Verstappen told Will Buxton of the Weekend Warm-Up.

Tyre wear in France

This will be particularly exciting for Verstappen, as it was precisely in this area that things went wrong in Austria. The Dutchman's tyre wear was so bad that he was unable to hold off Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Helmut Marko believes the problem has been solved and Verstappen is also positive.
"I think with hindsight we made some wrong calls in Austria, but with the sprint weekend format, it's very hard to change it after FP1. I think we learned a lot from it. I hope that with the things we have learned, we are back to our normal form," concludes the Dutchman.
