Verstappen and Albon don't immediately see major issues because of Honda departure

One of the topics dominating the news prior to the upcoming Grand Prix is of course the farewell of Honda at the end of 2021. This means that Red Bull Racing will have to start looking for a partner again for power sources and as it looks now they will become a customer team again. Is that bad news? Not necessarily according to the Red Bull Racing drivers.

At the press conference Alexander Albon and Max Verstappen were asked how difficult it will be for Red Bull to adapt to, for example, an external engine. This is based on the cooperation they now have with Honda, which will allow everything to be much more in tune with each other. An interesting point, but the two drivers are not too worried about that.

Verstappen: "We don’t know at te moment how it’s gonna look like. But I don’t see it necessarily as a negative. But let’s find out, we’ve learned a lot from the different engine manufactures we’ve had so far and at the moment I think it’s all a bit unknown of what we’re gonna do. Are we gonna take another engine? I don’t know."

Albon:"I think if you look at the history of Red Bull, they’ve been very good at getting things to fit and working well with engine manufacturers. So I don’t see why its such a negative to don’t have that kind of tailormade engine."

In short, both drivers trust Red Bull to come up with a competitive response by then.
