Max Verstappen is yet to win the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix in his career, and wants to tick that off his list.
In nine appearances at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the four-time world champion is yet to take pole position or win the Grand Prix. On Sundays, he has finished second three times already.
It is definitely something the Dutchman wants to achieve, he told GPblog, among others, on Thursday.
He said: "Yeah. I mean, I think in the last few years, we have always been bad at low-speed [corners]. Low-speed and just kerbing, the bumps. This year's car is probably more competitive in low-speed, but we still struggle on bumps and kerbs. We know that."
Verstappen hopes to have a better shot at winning this weekend than compared to the past years. He continued: "So, of course, you have unfinished business when you have not won the race. Actually, every year I come back and I'm trying to win it, but it also needs to be realistic.

"But I always try every single year, and I hope that we can be, yeah, let's say a little bit more competitive this year, I hope, compared to the last few years."

Verstappen has no interest in a Ferrari move without this key ingredient

Speaking to the Press Association, Verstappen said he would not simply join Ferrari because the Italian team's status. "I only want to win. I am not a nostalgic type. Do I have a lot of respect for the brand? Absolutely. But if that means you then commit yourself, and you are driving P5 or P6, what's the point?"
The Dutchman underlined that performance remains his main motivation, highlighting the success he has already enjoyed with Red Bull Racing. He considers the team his second family.

For now, the challenge of rebuilding Red Bull and returning it to winning ways is what continues to motivate him. "I am very performance-driven, and I have won a lot with this team already. It is a second family at Red Bull, and the challenge of rebuilding is what's driving me."
