Vasseur sees progress at Ferrari, but: 'We still need to work on that'

Ferrari are increasingly showing good speed over one lap in qualifying. Charles Leclerc grabbed pole position in both the United States and Mexico, and in Brazil, the Monegasque will start the Grand Prix from second. Speaking to Sky Sports, Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur says he is happy with the speed in qualifying but that certain things still need to be worked on.

Qualifying on Friday was a strange one. The weather turned in no time in Q3, meaning the session ended early. Leclerc did a better job than Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard will start seventh on Sunday after grid penalties from others. Vasseur said: "Carlos made a mistake in the last corner, and he caught the hardest wind because he left the garage a bit later. The last three struggled more than the others. Charles had the feeling that the lap was not good."

There is clearly an upward trend when it comes to qualifying at Ferrari. More and more good results are being recorded, and Vasseur sees that too: "We are consistent now in qualifying. Over the last seven, we started from pole four times and two or three times on the front row. Qualifying pace is okay and we have to work on the race distance."
