Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has urged everyone to put an end to the rumours and focus more on what happens on track, stressing that the team wins and loses together without fuelling the outside noise.
The Frenchman was able to breathe a sigh of relief after the intense media storm that erupted over the past week, with Ferrari publicly reaffirming its support for him and Lewis Hamilton securing an excellent second place in qualifying at Sepang, providing plenty of encouragement ahead of today’s race.
Speaking to Sky Sport F1 after qualifying, Vasseur stressed the importance of Ferrari remaining united amid the constant speculation surrounding the team. He explained that support does not simply come from Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton towards him, or vice versa, but from the entire team working together through both positive and difficult moments.
The Ferrari team principal also pointed to the qualifying result as a collective achievement rather than the work of Hamilton alone. In the same way, he stressed that difficult periods are shared by the whole team, insisting that Ferrari must continue to act as one and avoid fuelling the constant rumours and outside noise surrounding the Scuderia.

“It’s not just Charles or Lewis defending me, or me defending them. I think we need to stop with all the rumours, all the gossip. We are working as a team, through the good moments and the bad ones.
“Today, it wasn’t just Lewis, it was the whole team that achieved a good result. And when we struggle, it is the whole team that struggles together as well. So we have to act together, as a team, without feeding the system.”
Finally, when asked about the most delicate aspect of managing a team as prestigious as Ferrari while dealing with such intense pressure, the Frenchman joked: “Doing interviews when it’s 50 degrees.”

During the weekend, Vasseur reiterated that he enjoys an excellent relationship with Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna and chairman John Elkann. The Frenchman explained that he is in daily contact with both of them and has no complaints about the way the team is organised.
Vasseur acknowledged that there is always a desire to achieve more, improve the team and recruit additional personnel, but stressed that such ambitions are part of the competitive nature of Formula 1 and are shared across the grid. According to the Ferrari team principal, this constant drive for improvement should therefore not be interpreted as evidence of organisational problems within the team.
