In today's press conference, Valtteri Bottas has confirmed Mercedes are still "allowed to race" following team orders last weekend in Germany. He expects Mercedes to have done the same if he was leading the Grand Prix.
After the safety car period in Hockenheim, Bottas and team-mate Lewis Hamilton came rather close to each other as they wrestled for the lead. Eventually, Bottas got the call to drop back to prevent the Silver Arrows losing a 1-2 race result.
Bottas was asked about the teams status on the matter and said: "We are still allowed to race. It goes case-by-case but there is no plan for a support role. We're still on equal terms. Hopefully, it will continue until the end of the year... I am very confident they would have done the same if I was leading."
Toto Wolff had his heart in his mouth when his two drivers, who had both just signed new contracts, were fighting for 1st place. We all know he's been there before with Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
