Formula 1 drivers are entering the final phase of the season. Whereas they had a wet race in Japan a week and a half ago, next weekend the United States Grand Prix is on the programme. Although the start of the event has yet to take place, the organisers can already be very pleased.
Formula One journalist Erik van Haren reveals on Twitter that it has set a personal spectator record. Indeed, last season 400,000 people could be found at the circuit over the entire weekend, and that will be ten per cent higher in 2022. That means the organisers may welcome 440,000 people at this year's US GP, an event that has been on the calendar since 1959.

Hamilton won most often in Austin

Teams have travelled to Austin to finish a race almost every year since 2012. Lewis Hamilton was the winner that year, followed by Sebastian Vettel. In total, Hamilton managed this five times at the circuit.
After it could not go ahead in 2020 due to the corona crisis, Max Verstappen managed to win the battle on track a year later. Hamilton was right behind the Dutchman at the end of the race, but ultimately failed to get past him.
