As qualifying was reaching its final Q1 moments, the red flag was brought out by Alpine driver Franco Colapinto.

Colapinto brings out red flag

The argentine was closing out his push lap, but going into the final slow, twisty and complicated sector, coming out of Vale he pressed on the throttle and lost the rear of the car.
The Alpine A525 then went spinning off across Club corner and into the gravel trap on the outside of the track, hitting the wall and coming to a full stop.
The red flag did not come out ther, though, as Colapinto was able to get going again. But after running for a few meters down the track, the damage was obvious. The vibrations on the rear wing were severe, and the call from Alpine came to retire the car.
Tough times for the Argentine talent, with his current Alpine stint not turning out much better than Jack Doohan's, the driver axed to make room for Colapinto.
