Toyoharu Tanabe: Japanese Grand Prix "did not live up to our expectations"

Toyoharu Tanabe has admitted that the results at the Japanese Grand Prix did not match Honda's expectations. Max Verstappen was forced to retire from the race but Alex Albon finished the race in 4th. Pierre Galsy did well to finish in the points but overall it was a poor weekend for Honda.

“This was a busy day for all the teams, with the unusual schedule during which we managed to get three of our four cars into the top ten in the morning qualifying, which was satisfactory," Tanabe said.

Honda will hope to keep improving and come back to the Japanese Grand Prix next year with the fastest engine and win the race.
