Formula 1 is a team sport and it is often the work done behind the scenes which will determine the outcome of Grand Prix races. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has said that his mechanics have saved the team on a number of occasions so far this season as they have fixed small issues which could have caused reliability problems during the race.
"The mechanics in the garage have been really diligent," Wolff said to Motorsport.com. "They have, on a few occasions now, saved us. And it's something we need to get on top of, that we avoid these issues."
"Today [Saturday] we had a sensor issue. That was unfortunate because we needed to take the whole engine and gearbox off the car and then disassemble these little switches.
"You can quickly have a finger problem there, and then you carry a problem into qualifying or the race."
It is interesting to see that Mercedes are vulnerable, as so far this season the Silver Arrows have looked totally dominant. Some fans will hope that their dominance will come to an end and that we see more excitement in the championship.
