Lewis Hamilton has been negative about his own performance at the Italian Grand Prix. At the weekend, when Mercedes announced Hamilton's replacement (Andrea Kimi Antonelli), the Brit suggested Mercedes deserved better in qualifying and suggested the young Italian might do a better job than him. Toto Wolff has assessed this negative attitude.
The seven-time World Champion will feel the support from the Tifosi at Monza in 12 months time, but this year Hamilton struggled. In qualifying, he said he was furious at his own performance and has since claimed that he would've beaten a Ferrari had he started in a better position.

How does Wolff view Hamilton's negative attitude?

"I think the great characteristic of a champion is to first look at himself and say, ‘What did I do wrong?’ And I think that's what he's doing. He's trying to find where he can improve, what he could have done better and where he's lost their performance," Wolff said in a conversation with GPblog and others.
"He's been very strong, and was a role model for George, and even for Kimi. It's something that is important for the team. But the greatest of all time are very critical," Wolff highlighted.

Wolff and Hamilton have just eight Grand Prix weekends left working together before the Brit moves to Ferrari for the 2025 Formula 1 season. There he will race alongside Charles Leclerc who won in Monza at the weekend.
