George Russell shared his thoughts on his first win of the season, which came at the end of an incredibly tight Canadian Grand Prix at the front of the field. At the end of a chaotic Grand Prix that featured
a dramatic collision between the two McLarens and resulted in Lando Norris’ retirement, George Russell claimed his first victory of the 2025 season — the fifth win of his
Formula 1 career.
The British driver held on to the lead through Turn 1, fending off every attempt from Max Verstappen and managing his tyres brilliantly all the way to the chequered flag.
Asked to give his immediate thoughts on today’s race, the Mercedes driver commented: "It's amazing to be back on the top step''.
Russell claims win in Montreal
"The last time for us was back in Vegas. I felt last year was a victory lost and probably got the victory today due to the incredible pole lap yesterday. Obviously so happy to see Kimi on the podium as well''.
