Max Verstappen took his 17th Grand Prix victory in Zandvoort, which moves him up to 17th place on the list of most successful F1 drivers. That list is currently topped by Lewis Hamilton with 99 victories. Verstappen set another record, however.

Most wins without a title

With his seventeenth victory, Verstappen now holds the record for most wins without a world title. He takes over the record from Stirling Moss. Between 1955 and 1961, the British driver finished second in the world championship four times and third in three occasions, but never managed to take the title.
At first glance, you would think that this is a rather undesirable record, but statistics show that this might not be the case at all. In the past Moss' record was broken four times already. Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill and Nico Rosberg preceded Verstappen with the record number of victories without a world title. However, they all became world champions later in their careers. So the statistics prove it already: Verstappen is going to be world champion. But whether that will be this season?

Most points and podiums without a title

The records for most points and podiums without a world title are also high, but Verstappen does not (yet) hold the record. In the most podiums without a title he is in fourth place with 52 podiums behind Rubens Barrichello (68 podiums), Valtteri Bottas (63 podiums) and David Coulthard (62 podiums). In most points without a title, Bottas holds the record with 1635 points, followed by Verstappen with 1386.5 points. In any case, the Dutchman can't take over those two records again this season and let's hope Moss just gets his record back at the end of this season.
