The complete result of the three-day winter test in Bahrain: Prema strong again

After the Formula 1 engine fell silent in Barcelona, it was the turn of the Formula 2 cars to do some winter testing in Bahrain ahead of the 2020 season.

Although the Formula 2 teams do not drive with completely new cars, this three-day test is perhaps just as important for them as it is for the F1 teams. For many drivers the car is new and during the season they get less time to train.

In addition, the F2 is already running this season with the new Pirelli tires. A switch that Formula 1 will only make next year. After three days of testing, the cumulative results are shown in the diagram below.

Of course, we cannot draw any conclusions from this, but it is certain that Prema Powerteam are in form. With both drivers they were reasonably close to the top times, but more importantly: they were the only ones in the 400 laps. For both Mick Schumacher and Robert Shwartzman, the test went almost smoothly.

Luca Ghiotto was the fastest time for Hitech Grand Prix, but he only did this at the end of the last day. Until that moment, the team had many problems and they were among the slowest teams during a large part of the test. The top times probably don't say much yet.
