As we countdown to the start of the new Formula 1 season, we dive into the statistics to see how the current grid is performing in terms of pole and win percentages. Lewis Hamilton leads both lists by a remarkable number, but Max Verstappen is creeping closer.

Pole and win percentages active F1 grid

Remarkably, Hamilton dominates for the time being, but he does so with striking statistics, as he has both 103 pole positions and 103 wins to his name. The Mercedes driver was at the start of a Grand Prix 310 times, bringing his percentage to 33.23 per cent in both lists.
Verstappen struck a huge blow in his rock-solid 2022 season and has now boosted his win percentage to 21.47 per cent. In 163 races, the Dutchman won 35 times and captured the fastest time in qualifying 20 times, bringing him to a pole percentage of 12.27 per cent.
In terms of pole positions, the two-time world champion has to acknowledge his superiority to Charles Leclerc for now. The Ferrari driver was on pole position 18 times in 103 races, boasting the second highest pole percentage of the active F1 grid. In contrast, he scores lower in terms of victories, where he is ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Fernando Alonso.
