Stoffel Vandoorne says he is ready to hit the ground running this weekend at the Belgium Grand Prix. F1 returns after its annual summer holiday in front of the McLaren drivers home fans.
With Lando Norris looking poised and set to take his seat next season, the Belgian perhaps has a little bit of extra pressure on his shoulders. Despite the extra pressure, Vandoorne claims he has enjoyed a relaxing summer break.
"I have never felt so ready for a return after the summer holidays. I really enjoyed my time with friends and family, which I can not see much during and between races," Vandoorne told F1Only.
"I am looking forward to getting in the car. My home race is still one of the highlights of the season and every year I see more passionate fans in the stands. Even though my outing in Hungary was disappointing, the feeling in the car was very positive and I want to take that to Spa and beyond."
Norris will take over Fernando Alonso's seat in FP1 this weekend. According to motorsport, he will replace Vandoorne in Monza next time out.
