Guenther Steiner claims the 2019 regulation changes will change Haas’ plans for development. It seems as if they will have to bring forward their plans.
There’s plenty of talk about the 2021 regulation changes, but some are set to be introduced next season and it’s these which give attention to Steiner.
“We’ve had to do a lot of studies with the new regulations. It’s just the details getting sorted out at the moment,” said Steiner on an interview from Crash.
“For sure, it will trigger that we switch over to the 2019 car a little bit earlier than we envisioned at the beginning of the year, but so will everyone else. It’s not a big change.
The changes are mainly targeted at the aerodynamics looking at possible ways to increase overtaking opportunities. An emergency meeting was called straight after the Australian Grand Prix to discuss the matter. Steiner goes on to insist that the changes will be welcomed.

“For the aerodynamic engineers, it’s a good challenge.”
