Steiner annoyed: 'If you're last, that doesn't make you stupid'

Haas has shown in recent years that they can compete in the middle of the world championship, but this season that's not the case. Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin have yet to score any points and that looks unlikely to change in the coming races. Guenther Steiner however is not at all shocked.
The Haas team boss said at the start of the season that it would be difficult for the team to perform this season. Haas was focused on the radical changes of 2022, so it invested relatively little money in the current car. Moreover, the team took into account that Schumacher and Mazepin would need time to get used to the Formula One world.
"People always think that you are bankrupt because you are last, that you will never come back," Steiner stated in conversation with Autocar.co.uk. "It's not like that. If you're last, that doesn't make you stupid. We've had really good seasons and a lot of the people are still the same, so we just have to put the right effort into what we do and will come back."

Battle in Constructors' Championship

Haas is also in last place in the constructors' championship. Italy's Alfa Romeo is one place above the team with seven points, while Williams has 23 points thanks in part to George Russell's strong performance.
