Should Hamilton brace himself again? 'Circuit in Canada is very bumpy'

Canada is back on the F1 calendar for 2022. Kevin Magnussen is looking forward to the race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, but warns of the bumpy track. It's going to be quite a challenge with the stiff 2022 F1 cars.

After a two-year absence, F1 returns to Canada. Haas driver Magnussen has not yet scored better than twelfth place at the track and is determined to finish better and score points this year. Indeed, on the Haas website he says: "That's for sure. I think we also have the car to score points. I'm really looking forward to it."

The Haas driver's father, Jan Magnussen, scored a P6 in 1998; his teammate Mick Schumacher's father, Michael Schumacher, won the race that year. It doesn't look like the two current drivers can emulate their fathers this year. Not at all because the asphalt at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is going to provide a challenge with the stiff 2022 F1 cars.

Magnussen: "Montreal is a cool place. It's a beautiful track; quite unique. It's actually a kind of street circuit, but also hybrid. It's very bumpy so it's going to be tough in these new cars because they are so stiff. It's bound to be quite a challenge, but a good one."

For those teams still suffering from a bumpy car due to the porpoising problems, the weekend in Canada could be extra tough. Mercedes promised to avoid back pain for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in the future, but then the team has to reckon with a bumpy track in Canada.
