The father of Red Bull Racing driver Sergio Perez, Antonio Perez Garibay, made a pompous announcement that his plans for a second Mexican GP on the F1 calendar were at an advanced stage. The country's president, nuanced that.

Perez plans nuanced, but not ruled out

The president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, says the whole project does not exist yet. Perez Garibay's statements therefore seem a bit premature. Obrador only does not rule out the possibility of a second Grand Prix in Mexico. "In the coming time, we will see if there is a possibility. There is no project going on now, but we are not ruling it out," quotes Esto.com the president.
Perez's father already revealed that he held meetings with wealthy investors and that the future of the second Mexican GP was already looking bright. The FOM and FIA were also said to be already aware of his upcoming application. Preferably, the possible GP would be held in Guadalajara, Perez's hometown, but a race in Cancun seems more feasible and obvious.
That Perez may have found investors is crucial of organising the race. This is because the race will only be able to be organised with private investment. The government will not contribute to the race event. The same applies to the Mexican Grand Prix and almost jeopardised the race in Mexico City.
