Carlos Sainz was working on his final fast lap of qualifying Saturday afternoon in Monaco when he suddenly collided with Sergio Perez. The Mexican was across the track, making it difficult for Sainz to avoid him. At the FIA press conference, he let it be known that he was fed up with the situation.
Since drivers on Monaco's street circuit have to deal with narrow roads and corners, a lot of yellow and red flags take place every year during qualifying and racing. Therefore, it was not the first time for Sainz that he saw his fast lap end early.
"Every year in Monaco now seems to be a tradition that someone crashes in front of me or whatever and you cannot complete the lap that is normally the most exciting lap around Monaco," he revealed. "Anyway, it is how it is. We start P2. I think it's a great position to start and tomorrow anything can happen."

Sainz gets important assignment from Ferrari

Sainz has the important task on Sunday afternoon for Ferrari to keep Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen, who start from third and fourth positions respectively, behind him for as long as possible. Should he manage to finish on the podium in Monaco it will be for the fourth time this season.
