'Surprised' Russell weighs in on unexpected Verstappen's apologies after controversial clash in Spain

On the eve of the Canadian Grand Prix, the tenth round of the 2025 season, George Russell naturally couldn’t avoid commenting on Max Verstappen’s public apology shared on social media following the incident at the Spanish GP, for which the Dutchman paid a heavy price with a ten-second penalty and three penalty points on his license.

Answering the crucial question, the Mercedes driver commented:"He paid a high price for his actions and I benefitted from it. So, I almost owe him a thank you. But it's good to see him taking responsibility, which somewhat surprised me," said Russell.
