Nico Rosberg explained the background behind the message he sent to Lando Norris, offering support as a mentor after having faced similar mental health struggles during his own career.
After a commanding performance at the Monaco GP, securing both pole position and an impressive victory, Lando Norris has once again seen his confidence shaken by the last two races—especially the one in Canada. Following a collision with teammate Oscar Piastri, he now finds himself 22 points behind in the drivers' standings.
In the hours following the Montreal race, it emerged that Nico Rosberg had sent a message to the British driver offering support, having gone through similar psychological struggles himself during his career, struggles that the McLaren driver is currently facing.

Rosberg to mentor Norris in the future?

Speaking about the matter on the Sky F1 podcast, the former Mercedes driver explained why he chose to offer support to Norris: ''I'm always, always ready to help the young drivers whenever someone will reach out, no problem with pleasure''.
''Just in, in Lando's case, specifically, I've just been through exactly what he's going through, or very comparable. And that's why I turned it around successfully because I won in the end''.
''So I'm really like so well positioned to be able to discuss something like that. And that's the only reason why I just reached out and I just said, if ever you want to speak, I'm available there. Yeah, no problem''.
Adding further details about Norris’s psychological state, Rosberg concluded: ''So Lando, just like I was, is a little bit more of a sensitive person and you have a little bit more self doubts, you're a little bit more insecure''.
''And that's just the way we are and the way he is, hich can also be a strength because that's the kind of person who will question himself more, will work more on himself rather than the overly confident, the I'm the greatest in the world, who mostly attributes blame to other people and doesn't question himself as much''.
''But of course is more solid in his head. So there's like pros and cons. But of course the sensitive people, they are more scared and have more going on in their heads. There's a lot going on out there. So you can, there's the chance to improve your mental performance if you work on it.
