Renault now organises its own virtual race for its own drivers

Six F1 drivers from the current Formula 1 field were at the start of the virtual race at the Melbourne circuit on Sunday evening, but the Renault drivers were missing. Renault is now organising an event itself.

On the dates of the Grands Prix of Bahrain and Vietnam several drivers drove an official Grand Prix on the F1 2019 game of Codemasters. During the first race in Bahrain a Renault driver won, but that was not one of the official drivers. Esteban Ocon and Daniel Ricciardo didn't participate and it was junior Guanyu Zhou who won.

During the race on Sunday, Zhou was missing from the Renault lineup and it was the other junior Christian Lundgaard who was allowed to take a seat. He didn't do bad either, with a second place as end result. Renault would keep one place between the juniors and another for a guest driver of one of the sponsors, Racefans.net announced.

However, Ocon will now participate in a virtual race, but this is a race organised by Renault itself. The Frenchman will compete on Tuesday against Renault junior Hadrien David, in an event on the game Gran Turismo Sport. The event will be arranged by Renault's sponsor, Team Vitality, and will be seen on its Twitch channels at 18:00 UK time.
