Verstappen satisfied after 'messy day': 'Nothing to worry about'

Max Verstappen did not have the day he had hoped for beforehand. A damaged floor, sustained in FP1, made the Red Bull Racing driver have to wait a while before he was allowed on track for the second session. In it, the three-time world champion failed to match Charles Leclerc's fast time. Verstappen had to concede almost four tenths to the Ferrari driver.

Summing up his day at Sky Sports, Verstappen could only come to one conclusion: "a little bit messy because of what happened in FP1. I went wide, and damaged the floor and also the chassis, so it took a little bit longer to fix. I lost like 20 minutes. We still completed the programme. I would have liked maybe a few more laps in the long run, but missing 20 minutes, that's how it was."

Verstappen indicated that he would have preferred a few more laps in the long runs. Nevertheless, the Dutchman is confident about the rest of the weekend. "I think it was alright. I think Ferrari was quick, but from our side, I think there are also a few more things that we can fine-tune. So, nothing crazy, nothing worrying," Verstappen concluded.

A third free practice session will follow on Saturday, followed by qualifying.
