Alain Prost is surprised about the time Daniel Ricciardo needed to find his feet at McLaren. The four-time World Champion worked with the Australian during his time at Renault and therefore speaks from experience.
Ricciardo raced for the Renault works team for two years, during which time he also worked with Formula One legend Prost. After the 2020 season, the Australian moved to McLaren, but has made a difficult start there. This is in stark contrast to the performance of Lando Norris, who is having a very strong season in 2021.

Prost surprised by Ricciardo's difficulties

After his switch from Red Bull Racing to Renault, Ricciardo also needed some time to find his feet, but Prost did not expect him to struggle so much. "I'm surprised. I thought he would be much better and faster in the McLaren compared to Lando," the 51-time Grand Prix winner admitted to the podcast In the Fast Lane.
On the reasons for the McLaren driver's initial difficulties, the four-time World Champion said the following: "It may be that there is a different atmosphere in the team, or a different way of setting up the car that suits one driver more than another. That's perfectly normal."
