The new car from Racing Point looks very similar to last year 's Mercedes, so much so that it has been branded a Pink Mercedes by many fans and pundits within the Formula 1 world. Not every team is happy with that and there are plans to make a formal protest against the new Racing Point car.
Renault don't agree with the amount copied on the car and after the race on Sunday, it seems likely they will take action. This will give the FIA a busy time as Aston Martin Red Bull are also likely to protest against the Mercedes' DAS system.

Too much copied

There are rules for taking over or directly copying parts for cars, there is a restriction on the aero package. According to some, Racing Point has gone a bit too far with that, and that is why Renault is preparing a protest, says Auto Bild Motorsport, which bases that on its own information.
The reason that Renault is waiting with a protest is because they first want to see if the team actually appears with the copied parts at the start. It is possible that the team has since changed the aero package based on the winter tests and the similarities may decrease.
