After a difficult start to the season, McLaren came back strong with Lando Norris' podium finish in Imola. However, the team is under no illusions and, according to team boss Andreas Seidl, draws "no comfort" from the podium.
Since the mediocre start in the opening weekend in Bahrain, the team from Woking seems to have made serious strides. At the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, that resulted in a podium finish for Lando Norris, who had been on top of the game all weekend.

McLaren takes no comfort from podium

McLaren is not yet counting on a rich result, however, according to team boss Andreas Seidl in conversation with Motorsport.com. He points to the highly competitive midfield, in which the British racing team is up against teams such as Alfa Romeo and Haas. The upward trend of the past few weekends is therefore 'no consolation' for the team boss.
Still, the recent results are encouraging, especially since the MCL36 seems to work well in all types of conditions. Seidl sees that as a very positive sign. He is therefore confident that his team can aim for Q3 from now on and be able to fight for good points.
