Ferrari had a painful weekend. The Italian formation saw Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz fail to finish the race due to problems with their cars. Johnny Herbert and Damon Hill were scathing about the team after the race in Azerbaijan.
Sainz had to go in within ten laps after suddenly being unable to brake. At that point, Leclerc stayed out for a while, but his car also started to suffer. The Monegasque noticed that his engine was quitting and lost expensive points in the battle for the world title.
"The only way you can cope with it is know you did a good performance," Herbert stated with the English media. "He did brilliant in qualifying and he was racing well today. He knows he is driving brilliantly at the present time."

Hill was particularly displeased with Ferrari. "He [Leclerc] is doing his bit, but what can he do? Say to Ferrari to give him a car that doesn't break down please and a strategy that goes well. It must be immensely frustrating but the championship is still wide open. I don't buy it, it's a terrible day but it's too early to say it's a disaster," Hill said.
