This is the most likely strategy for the Australian GP

Pirelli predicts the Australian Grand Prix will be at least a two-stopper. The soft tyres brought for this weekend will wear out quickly at Albert Park, which will make the strategy interesting. Additionally, McLaren and Aston Martin have no new hard tyres left.

In Pirelli's preview, the Italian tyre supplier give three strategic options. According to Pirelli, the fastest strategy is to start on medium and then do two stints on hard. The second option is to start on hard, then medium and then back to hard. The third and least likely option is to start on soft and then do two stints on the hard tyre. Drivers complained heavily about the soft tyre afterwards, so the chances of them using it for the race are extremely low.

Red Bull Racing, Ferrari and Mercedes have maintained the same tyre strategy this weekend. All drivers of these teams have two fresh sets of hard tyres left and one fresh set of mediums. That is different at McLaren and Aston Martin. The McLarens have already driven on their hard tyres, and Aston Martin's drivers have no fresh set of tyres left at all though the British team have been known to 'scrub' their tyres in preparation for the race.

However, teams will have to consider (virtual) safety cars and red flags. The likelihood of crashes is high at Albert Park.
