Alex Albon has admitted that the
Pirelli test day helped him to adjust easier to the
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing car after a positive result at the Japanese Grand Prix. Albon came through in fourth in Japan, a career-best which saw him finish just off of the podium.
Albon only joined
Red Bull Racing midway through the season, swapping with
Pierre Gasly who moved to
Toro Rosso.
“
I’m starting to feel a bit more comfortable in the car now and even just doing the Pirelli test that I did on Monday helps with that so just more mileage in the car is always good for me. I just felt more comfortable in the car from FP1 [itself], " as quoted by https://formularapida.net.
“And also gave the car a bit more under me and it felt like I could do what I wanted. As soon as you get confident, that’s where the lap time is and I just felt really confident at a track where you need it, so it was a good Suzuka weekend."
The Thai driver is eighth in the drivers' standings currently, although he is just 12 points shy of
Carlos Sainz who is in sixth.
