Pirelli racing director Mario Isola has high hopes for the debut of the new hyper soft compound, but he also argues that it's not just useful for a quick qualifying stint.
The Italian tyre manufacturer wants to make races more strategic and more exciting. Still, Isola does concede that a one-stop strategy would be possible with the hyper soft compound bolted on.
"The hyper soft is not only a qualifying compound," he told RaceFans.net.
"In the race too, the tyre will hold its own.
"Our data has shown that the hyper soft lasts long without losing much pace."

Isola thinks that the hyper soft is about a second quicker than the purple ultra soft compound.
"The difference between the super softs and the ultra softs is very small, but the step to hyper softs is enormous.
"The Monaco circuit is unique and we'll see the potential of the hyper softs well here.
"Everyone will go for the softest tyre available and will try to last as long as possible on them."
