As we head back to Spa-Francorchamps for the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix, let’s look back at the 2025 edition. Oscar Piastri managed to snag another win while battling Lando Norris for the 2025 World Drivers' Championship title.
While this year's forecast shows a small chance of rain, last year the downpour was so severe that the race was delayed by over an hour. Due to poor weather conditions, the race started behind a safety car rather than under a standing start. After five laps behind it, the race officially heated up when the safety car was called in, and Piastri quickly made a move on Norris.
As Piastri and Norris were lighting up the front, Lewis Hamilton was carving his way back up after qualifying 18th and starting from the pit lane. Hamilton, with 14 laps and a pit stop, had managed to get himself up to P7. Max Verstappen, who was chasing Charles Leclerc at the time, and Lando Norris both lost time during their pit stops. Norris pitted one lap after Piastri, who went on mediums. During the Briton's pit stop, an issue with one of his wheels cost him time.
Throughout the race, Verstappen was right on Leclerc's tail, who was running a dry setup, and Verstappen was on a wet-weather setup. This meant that as the track began to dry, Verstappen struggled. After pitting at the same time, Verstappen came out behind as his pit stop was less than stellar. This allowed Charles Leclerc to round off the podium in third with Norris in second and Piastri on the top step.
