Perez thrown in the deep end at Imola: "A big task"

The F1 drivers had a lot to deal with last weekend in Imola. It is a classic track and therefore extra challenging. Especially when it comes to counting. Sergio Perez blamed himself after the race for his poor performance, but also says that these were not easy circumstances to get used to a new car.

Perez not looking for excuses, but sees a trend

And there Perez might have a point. In the distant past, when drivers changed teams, they had already driven thousands of test kilometres with the new car before they were at the start of a Grand Prix at all. This season they got a day and a half in Bahrain to get up to speed. When you are then thrown in at the deep end at Imola, it is not easy.
"I don't look at what other guys are doing to be honest, but certainly it is a big task to change teams and then get to drive on your second weekend your car in these conditions. It is pretty brutal", the Mexican was quoted as saying after the race by Autosport.com.
He is joined in this by the likes of Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, who had their own problems getting going this weekend. Coincidence or not, but if we look at the results of the race in Imola, we can see that all drivers who changed teams or were new finished behind their teammate.
