Sergio Perez could be very pleased with his performance after qualifying at the Singapore Grand Prix. The Mexican picked up the second fastest time and will therefore be right behind Charles Leclerc at the start of the race on Sunday.
While Max Verstappen had to abort his lap due to too little fuel in his car, Perez was able to set a good time. During free practice, it looked like he would have a tough time in Singapore, but nothing could be further from the truth. With only a difference of two hundredths from Leclerc's time, he will start Sunday on the second row of the grid, alongside Lewis Hamilton.
"It's a good chance to attack Charles tomorrow and go for the win," Perez stated. "It's disappointing to miss the pole by two hundredths, but in the end, it's a good team result. My team did a fantastic job. The right decisions were made."

Perez knows he cannot afford a mistake

However, Perez knows better than anyone that he will have to try hard to lay claim to victory. "It was so difficult to learn the conditions today, and tomorrow it could be wet at any time. So it will be crucial not to make any mistakes."
