Force India's Sergio Perez hopes that his team will be able to drive a "clean" weekend in order for them to keep up with the midfield after both cars missed out on points in the Australian Grand Prix.
Perez himself finished eleventh, just one place out of the points behind Carlos Sainz's Renault, and his teammate Esteban Ocon only managed a thirteenth place finish. This is the first time since Monaco last year that both Force India cars finished outside of the points, which is a worrying sign. Perez thinks Bahrain could be a great place to bounce back, as the circuit is great for overtaking.
"Racing in Bahrain is fun, you're racing in the desert and under the floodlights which is unusual," the Mexican said.
"It's one of my favourite tracks, this is where I got my first podium back in 2014."
“Melbourne showed just how close all the teams are in the middle of the grid, so it’s especially important to have a clean weekend and maximise every session.”
Force India will have their first upgrade installed this weekend; a front wing to improve downforce on the VJM11. Force India will be hoping to make up for their weak performance in Australia, that's for sure!
