Heavy penalty for Hulkenberg after incident with Alonso in Austria

Nico Hulkenberg has received a hefty penalty from the stewards after the sprint race in Austria. The German was penalised for an incident with Fernando Alonso in the short race at the Red Bull Ring.

Nico Hulkenberg made an overtaking move on Alonso in Turn 3 at the Austrian circuit. In doing so, however, Hulkenberg braked and almost went outside the track lines. As a result, Alonso was pushed off track by Hulkenberg.

Following this incident, the stewards have decided that Hulkenberg will receive a ten-second time penalty. These ten seconds will be added to the time Hulkenberg did over the sprint race. Hulkenberg will also receive two penalty points on his licence. They are Hulkenberg's first points in the past 12 months.
