Official | Revised layout for F1 circuit Singapore from 2023

Rumours were already circulating, but the reports have now been officially confirmed: the layout of the Marina Bay Street Circuit will be changed for the 2023 Formula 1 season. As a result, the Singapore Grand Prix will look slightly different from next year.

The section between turns 16 and 19 changes to a long 397.9-metre straight, reducing the total number of corners from 23 to 19. As a result of the modifications, the circuit will be slightly shorter: the length of the track will go from 5.063 kilometres to 4.928 kilometres. As a result, the number of laps of the race is expected to be increased from 61 to 63.

Race promoters can also already make a rough estimate of the new qualifying time: a time of 1:21.7 is assumed. This compares with Charles Leclerc 's pole time in 2019, the last time a dry track was raced on in Singapore. The Ferrari driver clocked a time of 1:36.217.

Work around the Singapore circuit is set to redevelop the 'Float' at Marina Bay into 'NS Square', a new community and events venue. Construction will start in March and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, after which the old layout may be reinstated. However, it is not yet confirmed if this will be the case.
