After a disappointing start to the season with both drivers finishing outside the points, Force India's
Esteban Ocon insists the team are "not panicking".
Force India have finished fourth in the constructor’s championship in the last two years, but the performance of Ocon and teammate
Sergio Perez put the team behind rivals Renault, Haas, and McLaren.
"I suppose some are afraid that after Melbourne things will continue to be like that," Ocon said to Auto Hebdo
The race in Melbourne was the first time Force India have finished without points since last year’s Monaco Grand Prix, but Ocon isn’t worried:
"So that there is no misunderstanding, I want to tell everyone that there is no panic.
"Yes, we are behind - and there is a lot to do to return to the fight for the top five positions,
"Last year we struggled in Melbourne too, but we quickly made progress. The season is long.
"Everything changes very quickly in Formula 1, and our car has great potential for improvement.”
21-year old Ocon, who’s in his third season as an F1 driver, added:
"Our car is better and faster than its predecessor. However our rivals made more progress,
"We only have small problems. Believe me, we are now trying to put everything right."
