The tyre test programme, which is part of Pirelli’s preparations for the sweeping changes set to herald F1 in 2026, saw the Haas team take to the circuit in Italy in a VF-25 mule car.
The Haas team, which largely dominated the first day of testing, witnessed both Ocon and Oliver Bearman complete laps around the circuit. Despite their morning runs being affected by rain, Ocon was able to record the quickest time from his 40-lap effort – 1’21”943 – ahead of Bearman, who recorded a best time of 1’34”381 from his 30-lap runs.
The weather conditions also provided Pirelli with the opportunity to try out the intermediate tyres for the 2026 campaign.
The two-day testing is now expected to continue, with the Scuderia Ferrari duo hitting the track for the final day of tyre testing in Mugello.

Lewis Hamilton to miss Pirelli tyre test

Lewis Hamilton is expected to be absent from the tyre testing for the Ferrari outfit. GPblog can confirm the British driver will not be present and will be replaced by test driver Zhou Guanyu.
The Chinese driver, alongside Charles Leclerc, will complete the testing programme for the Maranello-based outfit.
Hamilton’s absence is linked to the critical health condition of his pet bulldog, Roscoe. The seven-time world champion also provided an update on the condition of his pet ahead of the tyre testing.
