F1 celebrities have been sending their congratulations to Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet after the birth of their daughter Lily. Fernando Alonso was one of those people; however, he did not congratulate them in the way that has been circulating on social media.
The satirical X-account FormulaFakers posted a message falsely quoting Alonso as saying, “Congratulations to Max and Kelly for their daughter, what a special moment for those two. I look forward to racing against her in F1 soon!”
When Lily is old enough to drive in Formula 1, Fenando Alonso will be at least 60 years old. As of right now, Alonso has no plans to retire, but racing in his 60s is a lot, even for the eternal rookie.

Netherlands broadcaster, NOS, presents satire as news

Despite being known for having a dry sense of humour, Alonso did not say that. However, a public boradcaster in the Netherlands thought he did. NOS published the quote from the Spainaird believing it to be true.
