After qualifying for only the second row of the grid, Lando Norris hopes to gain positions on Sunday at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.. On Saturday,
McLaren once again showed they have great pace, as it was important to make the C6 tyres last during the entire lap.
Oscar Piastri managed to claim pole position as well, finishing just 0.034 ahead of
Max Verstappen.
Norris eventually finished in P4, after he could not improve during the second lap and was overtaken by also George Russell.
With only three drivers ahead, Norris still wants to complete some overtakes today.
"Just to have a fun race, to try and go forward, do some overtakes. I'm still aiming for a podium and a good result. Nothing more, just have some fun and do some overtaking," he began during the drivers' parade.
Norris continues to push forward
The McLaren driver expects chasing and pushing to happen once again today until the end. "I expect so. I don't think it's going to be an easy race for me. But it's a long race, it's many laps around here so not an easy track to overtake, therefore it's going to be a long one and making the most of the strategy, the first lap, those things are going to be important."
Entering the seventh round of the season, Norris currently trails Piastri by 16 points in the drivers' standings.
